Toggle Buttons for Dimensions and Measures.
I will show you how to create Toggle Buttons for Dimensions and Measures in Tableau with the same technique.
For Measures
Create a Parameter Sales/Profit
We need 2 Calculations. Toggle Measure
and Toggle Color Measure
Create a Map of the USA. Drag Toggle Color Measure to Color, Drag State to Detail. Update Tooltips and Parameters. It will look as shown below.
Make a Toggle Button in a new sheet. Drag Toggle Measure to Shape and Adjust Parameters, and create 2 Buttons as shown below.
Add them to the Dashboard. Add Parameter Action as shown below.
If it goes well, we should see the following.
For Dimensions
Create a Parameter Region/Category
Again, we need 2 Calculations. Toggle Dimension
and Toggle Color Dim
Create a Simple Bar Chart. Drag Toggle Color Dim to Rows and Color. Drag Sales in the Columns. It should look as shown below.
Make a Toggle Button in a new sheet. Drag Toggle Measure to Shape and Adjust Parameters, and create 2 Buttons.
Add them to the Dashboard. Add Parameter Action as shown below.
If it goes well, you’ll see the following.
