Writing about Coxcomb charts and doing something different i.e. creating a Semi-Coxcomb chart was amazing. I received a very positive feedback from Datafam (Tableau community). If you haven’t read the previous blog, then read it here.

Here are some more templates of Semi-Coxcomb Charts created in Tableau.

  1. Variation 1
  1. Variation 2

These are semi-coxcomb charts. Only difference is that Group field is introduced here. Everything is done for you. Just pick it and edit it with your data. The data for this needs to be like this.

The Metric field here is the grouping field. The dataset here is actually used for a grouped bar chart you might know this. Same applies here too.

How to edit.

  1. According to the pic above, Construct a dataset of your choice.
  2. After you import the dataset, union the dataset by dragging and dropping the data upon it. Sheet and Table Name are 2 columns extra you will get.
  3. Hide Sheet column. Now Go to the Worksheet. Create a Calculated Field Pad.

The Calculation

IIF([TableName]=”Sheet1",1,99)

4. Then replace the extract with your own data source. You will get an error!! Don’t worry. Now it is the time to actually replace it. Choose the columns with red exclamation, Right click-> Replace References and then choose the appropriate column_name for replacement. If it goes well, the chart would be edited correctly.
